Why work with me?

  • I am inspired by change and am motivated to empower others. My mission in life is to uplift the way we live. I want to understand people’s emotions, thoughts and behaviours. I hope for people to feel seen and heard. I’d love to translate that connection piece through technology, as there is so much potential to explore, bridge gaps and elevate our livelihood and relations by building products of value for the people. I seek to take on challenges that would bring more harmony between humankind and their lived experiences through tech.

  • Although I have been drawn to all forms of art and creations since kindergarten, I ultimately pursued a field in mental health and child development because my passion and desire to understand and help individuals were far greater. As opportunity presented itself, I jumped into administration for stability and consistency. Something within me was still lacking and unfulfilled. With a strong desire to create, connect, understand and uplift people, I took action to research other avenues that could bring me this light. It is here where I discovered ux and ui! I saved up what I could and pursued this change of course in my career pathway. Juggling family and a full-time job, I only had nights to invest in my learning and completing ux and ui -related work to earn my certificate and apply it. Here I am!

    Maya Angelou once quoted- people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. I desire to leave a mark on others’ day-to-day lives through both human-to-human interactions and human-and-tech interactions.

  • 1. Conflict Style: Compromise (equity, equality, middle ground) is my default, followed by Accommodate and Collaborate. Conflict management is always dependent on the situation and outcome goal.

    2. Myers-Briggs - INFP (the Mediator, the Healer, the Thoughtful Idealist). Open-minded, imaginative, compassionate, creative, curious, vibrant, passionate, empathetic, authentic.

    i) Empathy - I can easily sense other people’s feelings by imagining myself in others’ lives or situations; I have great emotional depth and awareness of expression, value and implications of others’ emotions. My insights can help me ask the right questions and offer appropriate assistance.

    ii) Harmony - I naturally look for consensus and areas of agreement. I work in steps. I know what parts fit or fails to fit. I can prevent arguments before they start by quickly helping others find common ground and resolutions.

  • My soft skills, strengths and personality traits are interchangeable. Being quite humble, naturally I want to give a fair heads up that I’ll probably be repeating many of my strengths that you have already read above, not to brag or bore you!

  • I collaborate with the team or client on what the objectives or end goal priorities are whilst applying design thinking. My running brain goes: Be mindful of universal design, accessibility, usability, market trends, balancing business satisfaction and the end-user’s satisfaction. Be aware of personal biases and uncover situational challenges and technical challenges. What’s the deadline and what are the available resources? What designs and applications can I compare to? What’s currently working and not working for the users in the targeted market right now? Frame problems into questions. Practice empathy and observation to learn about unmet needs. Research helps us understand past, present and future. What can we do to improve users’ enjoyment of the product? Increase user retention rates? This directly impacts a business’s profit margins and revenue growth. How can we ensure the product is desirable, feasible and viable? What types of research methods are appropriate for our project? What type of tools and data do we need to validate, conduct and evaluate our designs? We test more to learn and then we share our story. Researching, gathering inspiration, and generating product designs and features are my some of my favourite parts of the ux and ui process.
